Only six months after seeing them for the first time, the Dead came back to War Memorial. This show seemed to last forever. So much music it was hard to digest. And so much new music I couldn't help but be intrigued: Here Come Sunshine, Eyes of the World, Weather Report. Eyes convinced my jazzbo friend, Simon, that the Dead were valid musicians (and having Ellis and Fierro on horns, squonking out their best Pharoah Sanders impressions didn't hurt, either). During Weather Report I understood that the the fading summer Weir was singing about was the summer of love. It felt like I was slipping through a slamming door. Awesome show.
