We had a ball sitting in a big group of friends. They were so good back then. I remember Bob jumping in front of Donna Jean to protect her when some fool jumped up on the stage and was approaching DJ. Too weird, but Bob didn't mess around, he was no nonsense, the man!!!!
Terry Haggerty (from the old Sons of Champlin) plays heavenly----go listen if and whenever you get the chance.
I was in San Diego for a year only and went to every concert I could at the Sports Arena. When the Grateful Dead came, I was not a fan but went to the concert anyway. As soon as they started playing I became a fan for life. I was in a trance the whole time! It was the best show I have ever seen. I will always remember it.
came down here from LA for this show. Wall of Sound. The second set was a jamfest, we sat transfixed, eyes glued on Jerry.. Left exhausted and satisfied.
my bad. wall of sound debuted in '74. Still, kudos to the sound guys for creating excellent sound in a basketball arena. the mix was perfect, even up in the nosebleed section. The only other sound guy who could even come close was Dinky Dawson, who the Dead met (and admired) when he worked with the Fleetwood Mac Blues Band.

His job is to shed light, not to master...
Last week and it is one of my favorites - the Other>Big River>Other>Eyes>Other>Wharf Rat is phenomenal, a total mind blower.. and yes it is a sbd.
"I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel. Can't win for tryin. Dust off those rusty strings just one more time. Gonna make em shine."
Right up front of stage for the night. As mentioned above, I too remember the guy getting on stage and heading towards Donna. When Bob jumped into action Jerry seemed to be just laughing - not missing a note.

My first dead show.... I remember the wall of sound getting it;s groove on a couple songs into the first set. Donna waddled on during a couple songs and I thought she was going to give birth any second. It was a great show ! Worthy of a Dick's picks for sure! I have never herd the tapes but it seems to be universaly loved.I was ...well it was the 70's and I was 15 in a state of nirvana! Fil B
