Went to the show anyway & hung out in front of the Academy trying to score a ticket. Unbelievably, I scored a ticket for 5 bucks! Not even realizing what I was doing (guess I figured that the seat couldn't be that good) I went up to the balcony. The usher told me that my seat was downstairs in orchestra. So I went downstairs and handed my ticket stub to another usher. I followed him as he kept walking and walking down the aisle. Finally he stopped at about the 15th row. The seat was right in the center of the aisle. As I nestled into my seat the band broke into 'Playing In The Band'. It doesn't get any better than this. One of my most memorable Dead concerts.
Saw a lot of friends there. A Family reunion of sorts. Great Music, Great Party.
FIRST SHOW ,ONLY THE BEGINING OF A LONG STRANGE TRIP
Prelude to Europe's great run.
what a show sorry i missed these where was i caught the felt forums in dec 71" probably couoldn't get a ticket

Location
did not have a ticket but showed up anyway.
Went around back with 2 girls I knew to watch them arrive and one of the girls got invited in by someone.
10 minutes later the other girl and I were in and the three of us watched the show from backstage.
My only time ever backstage at a Dead show.
I stood behind PigPens keyboard the whole show.
