Dinner at Max's Kansas City with my sugar momma before blithely walking out front of the theater (no camera or press credentials or anything) and spying Bootsie--"Need 2"-"-sure Bertha's already half over--but, here"... ---Row R 11-12. still have the stubs. she was amazed. didn't run in to her again until the weekend of my engagement party 4 years later in Philly...
OLDER BRO-ONCE AGAIN SPIRITED ME TO THS VENUE--WHAT I RECALL--SINCE NO CHEMICALS WERE INVLOVED--ONLY HEMP--FOR ME---AT ONE POINT THE POWER WENTOUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A SONG----NO REMEMBER WHICH ONE= BUT I DO RECALL JERRY PLAYIN THE PEDAL STEEL ON "BROKEDOWN PALACE" HOW COOL IT WAS TO SEE THEM IN SMALL PLACES.....
The sound went out in the middle of LOSER, they finally fixed it and they started back up right in the middle of the song where they left off. Like your trip was stopped and then started up again. The CAUTION out of Sugar Magnolia was so unexpected. For years i thought I hallucinated it and wasnt in DEAD BASE for along time either. The it showed up on the tapers section and 30 some years later I finally knew for sure that I hadnt imagined it. These were great shows and a great venue to replace the fillmore that had closed the year before. Pig pen was still strong and vibrant. I think he sang like 6 songs this night. Dont think he was ever really great after the Europe tour

Location
The years have not dimmed my memory. Only time I got to see Pigpen. Jerry played pedal steel. Amazing scene. Wished the show would never end. Hooked for life!
