Doc made no sense!
I was trying to keep my thoughts straight.
REALIZATION - The Dead doesn't just jam they are the BEST rock and roll players of all time!!!!!!!!
There were several of us -- John, Ross, Doug, maybe Jan, maybe Angel -- we met at the apartment on Foster Street and rode the CTA down then walked over to the Amphitheater. That was a much better place to attend the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus than a concert of any sort. We were on the main floor maybe 30 or 40 rows back -- the echoes were terrible -- had to feel the music more than hear it. I remember US Blues as standing out but it always does for me. Walking back to the CTA afterward Ross was trying to hitch a ride -- by walking in the middle of the street with his thumb up -- John asked him what he would do if a white car filled with pure evil offered a ride. He stopped. So Doug took his place.
And now 'twas like all instruments, Now like a lonely flute; And now it is an angel's song, That makes the Heavens be mute.

Jack Straw outstanding!
and i remember jerry with out a beard and rather short hair and sounding like mickey mouse when he talked...but yeah, that part could of been just me ; )
I believe their was a bit of Seastones played before the second set. Some sort of wierdness anyway
....And it was more than a bit. And with the house lights on. It was mind numbing. But then, well, I was a little altered myself from some blotters that were VERY clean. I only wish that those who kept yelling for the band to "rock out" would have shut up during the Dark Star for a moment: so beautiful!!!
And yes, the place sucked, but where else around here could have held that magnificent Wall Of Sound????
.....all the years combine.....
That was a abundant bigger abode to appear the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus than a concert of any sort. We were on the capital attic maybe 30 or 40 rows aback -- the echoes were abhorrent -- had to feel the music added than apprehend it. I bethink US Blues as continuing out but it consistently does for me.
