What a wonderful start to a vacation Partying with the river guides at hance rapids after the smogasboard of rip shred grateful dead
being a young easterner it was my first night in Vegas stayed up all night long. Great memories if I could remember them.,
the heads all pouring out of the show right into the casino...
There were several black peter teases and false starting from what I recall.
I have to say that I did not like this show at all. I told some of my friends that I didn't think Jerry was playing "with" the others and that if he had only taken a couple of steps to the left they would have been in sync...
Did have an interesting aftershow with Phil Lesh looking for the party in Weir's room...Can't really talk about it...
Thank you, and Stay In Touch!
A wonderful Deadhead named Peter was struck and killed by a drunk driver outside of Gilroy at the age of 24 while hitchhiking on the way to Vegas for this show. The band was told that a solid dedicated head had been killed, and in his memory they played Black Peter. Peter had a really big heart, and the biggest love and inspiration of his life was the Grateful Dead and his fellow Deadheads whom he loved so much.
as an addendum to the above post I'd like to note that the Dead next played Eyes of the World Drums Black Peter 11 days later in this tour, at Niagra Falls. Peter was from Buffalo, and many of the Deadheads of this area knew and loved him. We all really appreciated the respect the band showed to our dear friend, and the acknowledgement of the profound grief that was felt by those who knew him. Thank you, again.
