I'M IN YOU, studio version, into Joni Mitchell, THE LAST TIME I SAW RICHARD from BLUE.
First of all, a singer/songwriter/guitarist named Chris Fuller (chrisfullermusic.com). I just reviewed his CD Sangamon for musesmuse.com, but I don't know if the review is posted yet. He plays fingerpicked and slide acoustic, ukelele, and harmonica, and his songs run from British Isles ballads to old American blues.
Second, the Take Me to the River rehearsal from Tapers Section a while back got me thinking - if you never have heard it, you should check out Al Green's original. Talking Heads version is good too, but the Al Green version was what GD and Ratdog based their versions upon.
Finally, also in Tapers Section, listen to the long, mournful He Was a Friend of Mine from 6/8/69. Jerry's guitar sounds like it's crying. Goes into China Cat.

You get so far away from how it feels inside,
You can't let go, 'cause you're afraid to fall,
But the day may come when you can't feel at all."
