You know, if someone had just sent me a note or something saying, hey man, we're with you, things would have been alright. It's not very nice messing with people's heads, esp. if that head is a Deadhead. It has made me stronger though. Also, I'd like to see Furthur go to some Muslim country and start playing Friend of the Devil, it wouldn't be long before they'd be screaming "off with their heads!" The music is supposed to be for everyone. As far as I'm concerned, when you play that song you are no better than Rush Limbaugh or any other disseminators of discrimination and hate. You've never told anyone your reasons for playing it and when people are without answers sometimes they think the worst. It truly hurts our feelings. And don't think the post above and a couple others were just me making things up,it wasn'tand it was a bit freaky. if I didn't have a strong faith Lord knows what could've happened. I wasn't planning on adding that Lennon song a couple days ago but it was on the radio when I walked in the library so I went for it wihtout thinking. I hope all who love will be welcome now.
may Jah be with you
Happy holidays
What happened to that great Morning Dew?
I guess it doesn't matter anyway
So does anybody know if Ratdog is going to tour again? I wouldn't walk 2 steps to see Further but I'd drive a thousand miles for the Dog.
Went to the 10/24 Dog show at the beacon, great energy, I looked on archive.org and see all the shows except for that one. Are they planning a special release for this specific show? Or does anyone know where I can listen to it? Thanks
I'm sorry I got angry and lost my cool over a song, stuff happens. Ratdog has inspired and impressed me a lot the last two years. I'm so glad I saw the Eugene and Jacksonville shows and was up front the whole time. Those shows will long stay in my memory. Kenny, I love what you've added to the music. I saw John Klemmer twice! Once as a teenager at the bandshell in Central Park and in L.A. at some big high-rise hotel in my early twenties. Mark, I've been impressed with your guitar work and style. Robyn, Jay, Jeff, you guys rock! And thank you, Bob.
I always sing friend of a rebel, cuz we're ALL friends of rebels!
Its all good. I probably totally mis-understood your post but the only reason I mentioned anything at all is because it sounded like an accusation -
"Do you guys approve of that sort of thing? Are child murderers your friend? That's what that song says. Maybe they're just fine musicians but not very bright. When you sing "without love in the dream it'll never come true" do you mean it?"
I apologize for taking your comment the wrong way. Peace be with you...
"I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel. Can't win for tryin. Dust off those rusty strings just one more time. Gonna make em shine."
It was not my intention to make people think I was accusing Bobby of anything and if I had even the slightest belief that might be true I would not be here. I wish I had phrased things differently. I was more pissed that they played it while the Persuasions were there but who knows, maybe one of them requested it. My little hissy fit got the best of me but I've learned to loosen up, hell, I'd bet Bobby would play that song if the Pope was at the show.

I believe most Muslims are good, god-fearing people, as are most Deadheads. Some of their governments though are holding Christians in prison, faced with the death penalty, unless they deny their faith(Iran for one). So sorry, but that song just burns my ears. At least when they play it on Sirius I can just change the station, but at a show there's no where to hide. I guess I could just plug my ears, close my eyes, and start screaming, but those guys should know better anyway.
