Grateful Dead
...er, sorta. It's the place to which we've traced the family's English provenance, and for those who haven't heard of it (or who made the mistake of blinking whilst driving thru), it's about seven miles due east of Tunbridge Wells.
Not a whole bunch to see there or thereabouts I guess, and it's why I was telling SSDD that if my peeps had stuck around, my Football League allegiance likely would've swung toward Brighton & Hove Albion...or maybe Gillingham.
Anyway, I've got aims on getting over there for an up-close inspection one of these days. Should suffice to occupy at least part of an afternoon, at any rate.
i don't live in Kent but knew Margate well, as my mother was born there and my Grandparents lived there until they died.
There are a few Deadheads in Kent. A month ago we had a party on the Kent Sussex border

give my regards to St. Stephen's Green, if I'm remembering its name right, being 30 years removed from my last visit...
I won't argue the point, but it has to be said that at least Palace may boast that they have the superior ground...but then, not for long--

In truth, it's a good bet that I would've ended up supporting the Albion had my people not jumped the puddle four centuries ago.
Hi Mary,
No, I left London many years back and spent some time in Germany before returning to Ireland. I'm now in Dublin, from where I send you best wishes.
