January 31 - February 6, 2011

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music spanning three decades of Grateful Dead history, the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s
Our first selections this week is from 3/18/71 in St. Louis, where the band always seemed to play great shows. From that show, we have the end of the set, featuring Greatest Story Ever Told>Johnny B. Goode, Not Fade Away>GDTRFB>Jam>Caution>Feedback, Uncle John's Band. There's a cut toward the end of GDTRFB, a master reel flip, but the standout here is the Caution, the first in a very long time. They'd again shelve it after this show, to revive it again in March-May, 1972 before putting it away for good.
Next up is music from 3/14/81 in Hartford, a bit of an underrated show, owing largely to being surrounded by so many exceptional shows on this tour, many of which circulate in great quality. From the first set, we have Feel Like A Stranger, Sugaree, Me and My Uncle>Big River.
Lastly this week is the entire first set from 3/10/93 at Rosemont, IL, on a very good tour. The 1990s are often maligned, but the spring tour, through the May shows, featured some great music, and very inspired shows. In the hopes that you don't mind two versions of Stranger this week, here is Feel Like A Stranger ; Stagger Lee ; The Same Thing ; Peggy-O ; Queen Jane Approximately ; Ramble On Rose ; Let It Grow.
Be sure to stop in next week for more great Grateful Dead music. And please feel free to write to us at the address below.

thanks again guys; we appreciate your efforts each and every week. take it somewhere else "grateful" bob. quickly.
Sure we all want to hear the offerings but I will take 2 out 3 everyday since the site is FREE
Great job to the web site people and music selectors. I really appreciate you!
Now go feed those hogs before they worry themselves into anemia
awesome footage. several other tracks are there.
enjoy.
i'm far more annoyed by Bob's constant elitism and bashing than these link problems!!!!!
i'm so sick of him coming on here with his BS attitude...
seriously guy, you know what you like and i'm sure you've got all those recordings, so stay the heck out of here if that's all you're going to bring to the table. you just want to hear a select few years, and there are no new gems to be discovered for you that don't fall into your crap category... c'mon man, the majority of the GD years seems to be in your crap heap!
meanwhile, the rest of us will continue to appreciate the stylistic range and variability of the band, so thank you David!
-on the links, the second one only has the Stranger; thought i'd point out since that has not been specifically mentioned.
to sit at work, listening to the GD for free, i always enjoy the selections whether they transcend or merely delight. seldom do the chosen cuts fail to do a thing for me, but i'm not going to post my dislike as if i'm the only one being served... fare the well Bob.. bitchin about free music, nice one fella.
Here's one deadhead who isn't disappointed or distressed by the problems one occasionally encounters on this website. There's tons of great music to explore while waiting for a fix (to the problems). Breathe deeply and bathe in the anticipation.

I LOVE GD71. This is glorious stuff, people. I look forward to hearing it. Feedback in 71? YEAH!
I also hope that last week's 71 gets put back in its entirety.
The offerings for Taper's Section frequently don't always turn me, but I check it every week.
MORE 71!
I'll see if we can address this.

81 Hartford still cuts early..... Peace...
