August 20 - August 26, 2012

Greetings, and welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll cover nine years of Grateful Dead music featuring tunes from 1976, 1982 and 1985.
Our first stop is in Detroit on 10/3/76, where we have the end of the first set featuring El Paso, Scarlet Begonias, The Music Never Stopped. This has long been a favorite version of Scarlet Begonias, with a very tight jam.
Next up is music from Lakeland, FL, on the excellent Fall Tour of 1982. From 9/11/82 we have the end of the second set, with a classic and great sequence of The Wheel>Not Fade Away>Morning Dew>Sugar Magnolia, Don't Ease Me In. Lakeland, FL
Lastly this week is another batch of post-Space music, this time from 11/7/85 in Rochester, NY, the final Grateful Dead run at the Rochester War Memorial. They'd go on two play two more shows in Rochester in 1987 and 1988 at Silver Stadium, and after that western New York shows were limited to Rich Stadium in Buffalo. From this first show of the Rochester '85 run we have Gimme Some Lovin'>Stella Blue>Throwing Stones>Not Fade Away, Midnight Hour.
Be sure to join us next week for more tunes from the vault.
