The German leg of the tour wraps up (well, they did return three weeks later for a show in Munich) with this under-the-radar show in Hamburg, where the band played one of its second sets that were centered around "Dark Star" and "Caution."

The German odyssey continues with this mighty fine concert at Hundred Year Hall (or more appropriately Centennial Hall) in Frankfurt, the first vault release after the Grateful Dead stopped touring, and one of the finest, most powerful shows on the tour. On a tour filled with great Other Ones, this is one of the best.

After two consecutive shows that were played in front of TV cameras (4/17 Copenhagen and 4/21 Bremen) the Grateful Dead returned to playing for just-the-fans (and the multi-track recorder, thankfully!) with this terrific show in Dusseldorf, a show so good it is the only show that was released in its entirety prior to 2011.

My buddies John & Mike & I had driven down from Oxford to Cincinnati early that Thursday afternoon, tickets in hand, in eager anticipation of that nights' show. We got there, hung out in the Music Hall parking lot for a bit, then, not knowing what else to do, wandered around the building for a while, ending up at the stage door at the back of the building.
