Who else but the Dead?
an hour.... not a bad deal...did it go down?
that's a riot....my very first concert (1973) was the guess who (merriweather post pavillion) and it cost $4 for pavillion seats..lawn was like 2 bucks.
I was there and it was my 2nd show. I was pretty close to the front (in the Phil Zone) and some people were throwing the big-ass (probably 1in to 1.5in in diameter and about 6inches long) green glow sticks. One came flying from farther back and landed close but I couldn't grab it. I wanted to grab it and maybe take it closer to the stage and hopefully get rid of it. It was thrown back and pretty soon it (or another one just like it) came flying up and hit Weir on his forehead. He didn't miss a lick but managed to flip off the audience. I don't blame him a bit for that, it probably hurt like hell. Anyway, what was supposed to be a 5 hour show was "only" about 4 because Bob developed a headache and didn't want to play anymore. The M-80's going off occasionally didn't help either. Why do idiots like that have to ruin potentially great shows like that? I didn't think they would ever come back but they surprised me and played there on July 5, 1978.
So much for long term recollection. It was my 3rd show not my second!!
