The Benediction
Great photo. Wier, the ever-attentive puppy, full of fun and mischief, right behind Garcia nipping at his heels.
This was standard fare at outdoor shows in the early to mid eighties. Jerry, the presiding master of ceremonies, would lead the band out from behind the amps and give a benediction of sorts to the event/crowd. His wave told everyone: We're here, we're ready, and it is ON.
